“Tuesdays with Morrie”

I watched this amazing movie this summer, I highly recommend this movie to anyone. Full of great thoughts and words.

“A professor strides into his classroom, the chatter of students subside as they turn to face the front. Some of them eager to learn, while others are there with the sole purpose to obtain a credit. The professor turns towards his class, but does not say a word, he stands in silence, staring.The students wait, note books open, ready for him to begin casting pearls of wisdom. Yet, he does not speak.

The only sound in the room is the constant ticking of the clock. Five minutes go by, then ten… coughing, awkward shifting. Some students get up to leave. Still, he does not utter a word. Finally, 23 minutes later, when the students feel like they could not take this any longer, the professor asks, “What is happening here?” He pauses, looks each student in the eye, “What is it about silence that makes people uneasy?” “Why do people only feel comfortable when they are filling the air with words?”"

Time flies so fast. This is a picture of my childhood friend with his newly born baby and his wife. Lumaki kami sa parehas na lugar, Daet, sa parehas na school nag-aral, Abaño Pilot Elementary School and Camarines Norte State College. Lumaki rin kami sa parehas na ward sa Daet, 1st Ward. Naghiwalay after na nag-move kami sa Laguna. After ng mission namin nagkita kami ulit sa Manila, first movie namin “Lord of the Rings”. Then, sabay na nangarap na mag BYUH at nangarap sa roof top ng MRT Ayala (hahaha). Sa ngayon, unti-unti na nyang narating mga pangarap nya last December he was sealed for time and eternity to Michelle and  three weeks ago, his baby “Rain” was born.

Lift Where You Stand

“No calling is beneath us. Every calling provides an opportunity to serve and to grow. The Lord organized the Church in a way that offers each member an opportunity for service, which, in turn, leads to personal spiritual growth. Whatever your calling, I urge you to see it as an opportunity not only to strengthen and bless others but also to become what Heavenly Father wants you to become.

When traveling to the stakes of Zion for the purpose of reorganizing a stake presidency, I have sometimes been surprised when, during an interview, a brother would tell me that he had received an impression that he would be in the next presidency.

When I first heard this, I wasn’t sure how to react.

It took some time before the Holy Spirit gave me understanding. I believe that the Lord has a certain calling for every man. Sometimes He grants spiritual promptings telling us that we are worthy to receive certain callings. This is a spiritual blessing, a tender mercy from God.

But sometimes we do not hear the rest of what the Lord is telling us. “Although you are worthy to serve in this position,” He may say, “this is not my calling for you. It is my desire instead that you lift where you stand.” God knows what is best for us.”
